‘Drunk’ driver says he only ate liqueur chocs

Apologies Ian but I genuinely thought the Captain of any ship would take responsibility for the behaviour of his crewmembers, I was wrong!
This does seem to illustrate what a lot of people on this site have talked about in the past, with ref. to your practice of taking on all and sundry as Taxi drivers. I do see a connection between this incident and the Berwick issue. I don’t know whether this driver was a Berwick driver but this incident does perfectly illustrate the need for proper Licensing of Drivers by the Local authority. TooManyTaxis would like to assure the Public that the vast majority of Taxi/Private Hire drivers on Tyneside are well behaved, conscientious and sober when they go to work.

Woman sentenced to 22 years for robbery, murder of taxi driver

Dianna Barsotti is racked with guilt.
It has been 19 months since her son, Timothy Royce, was shot to death and she still cannot sleep without help.
"I'm haunted by images of my son dying alone in an alley with two bullets in his back, lying in the dark with no one to help him," Barsotti sobbed. "Did he know what happened? Did he have time to be frightened? Did he call for help?"
It is a mother's job to comfort her children and she was not there, Barsotti said.
Barsotti was in Pima County Superior Court Monday to attend the sentencing hearing for one of three people charged with first-degree murder in her son's death.
Marisela N. Pacheco, 31, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed robbery.
Her 22-year prison sentence for murder (every day of which must be served) was agreed to ahead of time. Judge Richard Fields had to decide what to give Pacheco on the armed robbery charge and whether to run it concurrently or consecutively with the murder sentence.

Miami man allegedly stiffs cabbie on $3,000 ride

MIAMI – A Miami man was jailed in Tennessee after allegedly taking a $3,000 taxi ride there and refusing to pay the fare. Memphis police arrested the man after the 1,600-mile drive on a charge of theft over $1,000. The man allegedly told Flamingo Taxis driver Lelis Almeira the woman he was visiting would pay when they arrived.

The woman said she doesn't know why the man came to see her and said she made clear beforehand she had no money to pay for the taxi.

The trip took 20 hours, including rest and meal stops.

The problem with Tucson

There is two utility trucks working on a pole between 200 and 300 south Pantano. They have men at work signs starting at 500 north Pantano. And forcing traffic into one lane at 300 north Pantano. Right in front of Kohls, right before the intersection. So even those cars that would be turning onto Broadway are forced to merge into one lane for two blocks for no reason. And all this is happening at noon when people are rushing around durning their lunch hour trying to get things done. And the 5 guys working? They are standing around eating and talking.

I have seen this before. Having a force merge before an intersection for work being done after the light. All you have to do is put up a sign that "right lane must turn right". So the third of the traffic that is turning does not have to merge. And for people that are caught not paying attention can simply turn anyways instead of holding up traffic, causing accidents, frustration, and delay. And there are many other ways to ease traffic flow, spead up commerce and ease road rage.
